UP Magazine Photo Contest

UP Magazine holds a monthly photo contest sponsored by Seven Elements Art Gallery located in Mackinaw City, MI.  Each month our readers send in photos of northern Michigan and Wisconsin. Seven Elements selects the top 10 images for publishing on the website. The public gets to vote via website for the People's Choice award.  The top 3 photos  and the People's Choice winner are published in the following month's magazine.  The top 3 places as well as the People's Choice winner win a FREE magazine with their published photo, an award certificate and entrance into the "Photo Of the Year".

Anyone is welcome to enter their photographs.  There are no age restrictions.

​

We accept images from both non-professional and professional photographers.

​

You may enter photography taken by any type of camera.  The sky is the limit.

​

We DO NOT accept AI generated images.

​

If you would like to enter the contest, here is what you need to do.  E-mail us your image(s) in the following formats with the following information included.

​

1) Send up to 3 photos that are hi resolution (300 dpi or greater) in jpg format.  If you are using your cell phone, HEIC is fine.  ALL photographs MUST BE ORIGINAL WORKS and copyrights owned by you.

2) Label your images as follows:  Title of Image_First Name Last Name_Month of Entry and year

       EX:  Pollination_Vicki Logan_May2025

​

3) ALL images need to be received by the last day of the month.  The top 10 images will appear on the website by the 5th of the following month.  Winners will be announced the next month and printed the month after that.  So, if you send in your images before the end of March, for example, images are selected April 1-5 and the top 10 are listed on the website by the 5th of April for People's Choice Award voting.  Winners are announced May 1st and printed in the magazine.  We will make sure that the winners receive the issue that their photographs have been printed in.  We cannot guarantee exactly which issue the winners will appear in until we get the contest underway.  Everything will be announced on the winning photos page so that you can always order the exact issues you want.

4) When you send us your entry e-mail, make sure you include where your photo was taken and your mailing address so we know where to send your awards if your photo(s) are selected.  Additionally, if you have one of the winning photos posted on our website and would like to include your contact information on our website, we can add a link to your website or an e-mail.

5) When we publish the winning photographs in the magazine, we will ONLY publish your name and city/state so that you receive credit for your work.  We WILL NOT keep your information or photographs beyond the time of printing unless it also appears on the website.  Photos will stay up on the website for up to 1 year, unless you are in the Top 3 for the year.  Those will stay up for an additional year.

6)  By entering the contest, you grant us permission to use your work in our publication as well as our website.  We will give you credit in the publication as well as on the website.  We will not use your work for anything outside of promotion for the contest in both the magazine and on the website.  ALL RIGHTS REMAIN YOURS.  All images and personal information are removed from our files 1 year after submission, unless your images are in the Top 5 for that year.  Then they remain an additional year on our website as promotional material for our contest.

7)  Entries will not be accepted unless submitted via the official contest e-mail. Entries not submitted through the proper channels will be deleted.  Entries that are inappropriate; pornography, violent, etc., will not be accepted AND the e-mail address will be blocked from entering additional contests.

 

8)  Entries will be judged by UP Magazine and Seven Elements Art Gallery. All decisions are final. UP Magazine and Seven Elements reserves the right to disqualify any entry that is deemed inappropriate or does not conform to stated contest rules.  UP Magazine and Seven Elements Art Gallery are running the contest and our website host, WIX.com is in no way responsible for or affiliated with it.

9)  By entering the contest, entrants agree that photos submitted are the entrants original work and can be published by UP Magazine.

10)  All prizes will be mailed to the winners.

 

11)  The winner will be contacted via the email address provided during entry. 

 

12)  The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law.

 

13)  All entrants confirm that they have read the rules and regulations by entering their images to the contest via e-mail.
